You have now read Macbeth and watched a production of it. After Thanksgiving you will begin working on your own production. I'd like you to answer these three questions.
1. Do you like Shakespeare more now than you did before we started it?
2. Did the Interactive Notebook help you in your understanding? Did it help you stay more organized? Would it be more helpful if I did this for everything?
3. How much of the blame should be placed on Macbeth and how much on the witches?

1. I never hated Shakespear before Macbeth but breaking it down the way we did made an impact because I could see how into the writing Shakespear got.
2.I think the notebook helped but not all the pages. I think the character sheet and timeline was but I don't know what the quote page was for only because I remembered them already. It depends what you would use it for if you used it again.
3.I think it's 50-50. If the witches hadn't said anything, he would not have thought about it. Macbeth however did lose control of himself.
1.I can't say i ever disliked Shakespear, i just don't understand him because of the time he lived in. But his thoughts are the same as a director these days so he's relatable.
2.yes and no. It helped by giving me an idea of what emotion was being shown. But it only really helped with this because of the way the language was used. ex. old-english. If it was in this century language I'd be fine, so you don't have to use it on everything unless it'd be for the best.
3. I'd say Macbeth should take 40% of the blame and the witches 60%. I say this because had the witches not said anything then Macbeth wouldn't have done the things he did. Yet he still gets a fair amount of blame because he could have decided to not kill Duncan or go through with the things he did, instead he met and listened to the witches leading to his downfall.
1. My thoughts on Shakespear have not changed through the course of Macbeth.
2. I don't think the notebook helped because I think I could have kept my thoughts organized without it.
3. I believe it was the witches fault because their foresight ended up manipulating Macbeth into doing things he wouldn't have done. If the witches never told him he was to be Thane of Cawdor and King, he could still hold those titles without going corrupt and alienating most of his comrades.
1. I agree with Casey. It was an interesting read, just because it was not during our time period, but that also made it confusing at times.
2. The interactive notebook absolutly helped throughout the whole story. It helped me stay organized, and I would do this for the stories that are hard to understand.
3. I think that MacBeth should take 75% of the blame because he did not have to go along with what the witches were saying. He could have changed his future. The witches would take 25% because they put the ideas in his head of what he would one day rule.
1. "Macbeth" is probably my favorite story from Shakespeare. It kept my attention more than "Romeo and Julliet" and i enjoyed reading it much more. The writing was still confusing at times, but it didn't ruin the story for me.
2. The notebook helped me while reading "Macbeth". It kept me organized and I was always aware of what was going on, but i don't think it is necessary for all of our readings.
3. I think that the majority of the blame should be placed on the witches because their predictions are what made Macbeth commit all the crimes that he did. If he wouldn't have come in contact with the witches, he would have never thought he should become king, and would have never murdered in the first place.
1. I like Shakespeare more now than i did before we started it because I typically think old english is confusing and pretty boring but Macbeth was different.
2. I really liked the Interactive Notebook for Macbeth because it helped me organize my thoughts and keep a better understanding of the tragedy along the way. I would like to use this study tool again.
3. I think the majority of the blame should be on the witches because their apparitions for Macbeth forced him to do things that were not normal for his character. I feel Shakespeare always takes something crazy and pushes it to the extreme such as this tragedy of Macbeth.

1.Macbeth has not changed my opinion on shakespeare. I never disliked skakespeare, i just never understood it.
2.The notebook helped me understand and keep track of the play. The character sheet reminded me of who people were and the timeline helped me keep track of events. Yes, this kind of thing would be helpful for a lot of things.
3.I think most of the blame should be placed on the witches because they profesized for macbeth to do these bad deeds. They made him believe they were right and they made him do bad things.
1.after the macbeth experience i still have the same feelings towards shakespear. i respect him for his talents but his writing style is not one which attracts me.
2. i think that the notebook was helpful in that the discussion of the plot and such helped me stay on track, yet i do not see myself reffering to it.
3.i think that the witches were being witches and mac beth was being a greety man. he persued the witches and they only told him what they knew. it is his fault for what he did with the knowledge they gave him.

1. I like it the same amount that I did before we started Macbeth. I like it but i perfer today's english if I have the choice.
2. I did like the Interactive Notebook.It was helpful in keeping me organized and is useful now that I am looking back on it for my paper. I would like this for bigger pieces of writing that we read to help me with my papers and understanding.
3. I think that the witches are not to blame, but they were a persuading factor in Macbeth's decisions. I think that without the prophecys he would not have such need to become King so quickly and would still be humble and not power hungry.

1. After reading and watching Macbeth, I now have a greater appreciation for Shakespeare.
2. The Interactive Notebook did help to keep me organized and helped me keep characters and events straight. If the notebook was changed a little bit to fit what we were doing I think it would help.
