Final Impressions 7th Period

You have now read Macbeth and watched a production of it. After Thanksgiving you will begin working on your own production. I'd like you to answer these three questions.

1. Do you like Shakespeare more now than you did before we started it?
2. Did the Interactive Notebook help you in your understanding? Did it help you stay more organized? Would it be more helpful if I did this for everything?
3. How much of the blame should be placed on Macbeth and how much on the witches?

Have a great Thanksgiving Break.

Mr. Lunn

1. Macbeth didn't really change my view on Shakespeare at all.. the only difference is that i understood this play more than the other shakespeare plays i've read before in school.

2. I think that the interactive notebook is the reason that i understood this play more. I think by breaking it up and discussing it after each scene really helped it make more sense to me.

3. I think both the witches and Macbeth are equally to blame. I believe that none of it would have happened if the witches didn't start it and give Macbeth the idea that he may some day become king. Yet, ultimately Macbeth made the decisions to kill and that eventually came back to him.

My views on Shakespeare have not changed at all.

Yes, the notebook helped. It helped me stay mentally organized. I only think something like this is necessary for harder material.

Macbeth is more to blame because he ultimately made the choices.

1. Macbeth did not change what i think of Shakespeare. Sure Shakespeare gave themes for future movies, but i still do not like his plays.
2. I have always been a fast learner so the interactive notebook did not really help me. Once i understood what Shakespeare was conveying in a section i understood it, hence not needing my interactive notebook. Yet, i can see how it would help some people so i think it is a good idea to keep using it.
3. I truely believe that the tradgedy of Macbeth would not have happened if the witches had not told Macbeth their so called 'profecies' his downfall might not have come. Nevertheless Macbeth did make bad decisions along the way and eventually killed who he used to be.

I would have to agree in saying that my views on Shakespeare have not changed at all with the reading of Macbeth. His plays show that he really was brillant and that's why he is so famous.

I think the interactive notebook did help. It helped me to stay organized and understand the play more. Also I think it will be a major help when writing the paper and for studying for the test. I don't think it's necessary for everything, but with what Joe said, just for harder material.

I think that the witches contributed to an extent of the madness that plagued Macbeth. They were the spark that ignited the fire and if not for them perhaps Macbeth would never have killed the king. As for the rest of his madness I believe that is soley Macbeth's own fault. The witches never told him to kill Banquo or Macduff's family. I think that Macbeth should be held 100% accountable for his actions.

1. My opinion of Shakespeare hasn't changed but i did enjoy MacBeth much more than Romeo and Juliet.

2. The interactive notebook did help me understand Macbeth more. it broke the play up. We also analyzed more of the play with the interactive notebook. I think it would get rather tidious if we did it for everything though.

3. the blame is equally on both the witches and Macbeth. the witches gave Macbeth the idea that he would someday become king but on the other hand, Macbeth should have never killed King Duncan to become king.

1) Shakespeare is still the same in my opinion. He was a great playwright who placed many parallels to the culture of his day in his plays.

2) It did help, though I think it would be rather repetitive to do one for every single piece of literature that we read.

3) The blame should be placed squarely on Macbeth's shoulders as he could have easily ignored what the witches said, rather than letting it overtake him.

1. My opinion of Shakespeare has not really changed since I've read Macbeth. However, I liked some of his other plays much more than this one.

2. The Interactive Notebook most definitely helped my understanding of Macbeth. I was much more organized in my notebook and in my thoughts. It was very helpful for this play but it might not be as successful used in other things we do in class.

3. I beieve that the witches influenced Macbeth in a bad way. Therefore some blame could be placed on them. Macbeth however, did make the decisions and listened to them so he is to blame as well.

1. Personally, my opinion of Shakespeare hasn't changed at all. I never had a problem with his writings before, and I still don't now.

2. I did like the interactive notebook. However, I see no point in using it for everything. Shakespearian works are one thing, because they're pretty hard. I wouldn't need it for something like Beowulf.

3. I believe that everything should be blamed upon the witches. Had they not forseen his future and told him about his soon-to-be leadership, he wouldn't have killed Duncan. Had he not killed Duncan, he wouldn't have killed Banquo, then Lady Mcduff.. etc. In short, the witches gave him power by telling him, and he went mad.. Everything eventually
leads back to the witches..

I still don't enjoy Shakespeare reading Macbeth hasn't changed that.

The notebook did help to understand the play more because we would stop and go over what happened and then write that down

Macbeth is at fault because he made his own decisions even though the witches could have influenced them

1. I still don't like Macbeth.

2. I hated the interactive notebook. It was a drag and did not help me anymore than if you just explained the play to us

3. Macbeth is to blame because he made the choices but the witches caused him to make those decisions.

1. I do not think that Macbeth changed my view on Shakespeare at all. It was not impressive to me and I still do not have much of an interest in Shakespeare's writing.

2. I was not a huge fan of the interactive notebook. The summaries helped a little bit and the quotes were nice to have but some of it was a little unnecessary.

3. I would agree with some of the other people in that both Macbeth and the witches are to blame. Macbeth made his own decisions, but they were decisions skewed by the witche's prophecies.

1. Yes I did enjoy Shakespeare more now then I used to. Each story that we read got better, I did not use to enjoy shakespeares work but I do now.

2.The interactive notebook helped me in more of a sense of organization. It also helped me follow along and refer back to quotes and the timeline. I think it is a good idea for you to continue it.

3.I think the blame should not all be on Macbeth, but for sure not on the witches. It should be put on his crazy wife. She talked him into it, he just fell into everything she said. He ended up going crazier so most was his fault, but his wife wanted everything for her husband even if it meant they had to kill.

1. I've always enjoyed Shakespeare, and this was just pure enjoyment for me.

2.The interactive notebook was a slight bit of help, but a little much. Doing it for everything strikes me as a bit drastic.

3. I think ultimately it was Macbeth who was at fault. He was given information that was just a possibility, and he acted upon it. The consequences are his fault, not the Weird Sisters'

1. Before Macbeth I really didnt have an opinion on Shakesphere, and now that I read Macbeth it hasnt changed the way I look at shakesphere that much. Its not somethig i read on a daily basis so i dont care that much about having to read it in english.

2. Yes, the interactive notebook did help me understand more and keep me organized. I think it is a good idea to keep doing it next year also.

3. All the blame should be put on Macbeth. I think this because the witches werent the ones who told him to do any of the things that he did, they only told him what the future was going to be. The witches did not encourage Macbeth to murder and cheat. Thats all his fault.

1. Yes, Macbeth changed my views on Shakespeare because before this, i didnt have a clue what it even was. i just thought it was a long, boring play.

2. The interactive notebook really helped out because it kept me orginized, and know the stuff i was reading.

3. I think Macbeth was the one that should be blamed because he did it to himself cause he was a showoff, although witches had some part in it as well.

1- I am still not a fan of Shakespeare and this play has not changed my view at all.

2- The interactive Notebook did help me stay more organized, but a lot of the sections were not used much and could easily been removed.

3- It is pretty much all Macbeths fault for what happened. Sure the witches provoked it, but it was Macbeth who acted and took things to far. I would say 98% blame on Macbeth, and only 2% blame on the witches.

1. My views on Shakespeare have not changed since we have read more and started it, I still don’t like him.

2. Yes the interactive notebook helped because it was explained better and easier to understand after we went over it, talked about it and then wrote it down. I don’t think you should do it on everything just the things we read that are hard to get through and understand.

3. I think that the witches and Macbeth should be both blamed equally. I say this because the witches may have told him what to do and what would happen, yet he was the one that did it and did the killings.

1. Macbeth did not change my view on Shakespeare at all. I personally do not like Shakespeares plays. I think he was brilliant writer, but his writing is very difficult to understand.
2. The interactive notebook helped me a lot with understanding Macbeth. Having discussions and writing down the events that took place helped me understand things more clearly.
3. I put more blame on Macbeth then I do the witches. The witches told Macbeth that he could one day be king. Macbeth wanted this power so badly that he did awful things to recieve it. It was his choice to kill Dunkan and Banquo, not the witches. You cannot let a person tell you your destiny no matter how badly you want it.

1. Macbeth didn't really change my view of Shakespeare, he's hard to understand and I think his plays are overhyped.

2. The notebook did help a bunch, but only certain things like the timeline and characters, some of the other stuff could of been left out and I would of been fine =p.

3. It's pretty much all Macbeth's fault, he took it too far, and should of known when to control himself.

1. I have never really liked Shakespeare and i still don't. I don't like the type of writing he uses, and its difficult to understand. But, i did understand this play more than any other Shakespeare play.

2. I think the interactive notebook did help a lot. Not only did it help me stay organized but it picked the important points and scenes out from the big picture and it helped the play make more sense.

3. I think the blame should be placed on both the witches and Macbeth. I think the witches are to blame because had they not told him his prophecies he would have never known that he could become king and would have never killed Duncan and so on. Also, Macbeth after knowing what the witches had told him chose to go kill all those people.

1. I have never really liked Shakespeare that much. Mostly because of his writing styles and the words he chooses. Macbeth hasn't really changed my feelings towards Shakespeare.

2. yes, i think the interactive notebook was a lot of help. It made me a lot more organized and I actually understood what it was about.

3. I think the blame should be put on both the witches and Macbeth. Because if the witches never began to tell Macbeth the prophecies then none of this would have happened. But i also blame Macbeth because he still is his own person and he himself made his decisions of killing.

1.I have never really liked shakespeare mostly because of the context of his writing style. Reading Macbeth has not really changed my views on shakespeare.

2. The Interactive notebook heped me a lot, it helped me in my organization in keeping everything together, and it also helped me to pick out the important information while reading.

3. I think that Macbeth wis a fault, he was told things that were posibly true, but were never really confirmed to be ture. So the consequences that Macbeth faced were because of his actions not because of the witches.
