so far i am a little cunfused with the plot. i think it is about a war hero (macbeth)who is power hungry and he has a crazy wife. together the pair plan to kill the king and take the crown. their plan is to get the guards drunk and then kill the king with the guards dagger. along with thier own ambition, macbeth has 3 witches egging him on. where did the witches come from? where did they get thier beliefs? do macbeth and his lady have any love for eachother or just for power?

I don't understand why Macbeth acts so good and then decides to kill the king. I know that the other dude was announced prince, but why did Macbeth think he'd have to kill to get to be king? What the witches were saying came true and it never had resulted in Macbeth doing anything to get to where he was.
I find the story of Macbeth to be similar to season 5 episode 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Captain Picard and the Star Ship Enterprise meet a Tangarian ship in flight. I find that the characters in Macbeth are similar to the Tangarian creatures because they all speak in metaphors. I can't imagine how the audience of these plays could enjoy a dialect made completely of metaphors. I feel I have to get out my metaphor decoder ring to thoroughly enjoy this story.
I feel like I am understanding Macbeth pretty well so far. I will admit that all of the Shakespearean lingo is hard to understand at times. What I do not understand is how does Lady Macbeth have so much power over Macbeth, that she got him to committ a murder he did not want to committ? Is he that selfish? Or does Lady Macbeth wear the pants in the relationship?
So far I like MacBeth. It is easy for me to translate and understand. I think that Lady Macbeth is a little on the crazy side and that the weird sisters were correctly named. What I do not undersand is why Macbeth decided to kill King Duncan when he knew that there was two more heirs to the throne. That is alot of killing that needs to be done and you can only get away with so many murders.I think that they might have forgtten that part. I think that he was lunky that King Duncan's two sons fled the country. I am not really condused with the story so far but some actions are kinda illogical.
Well, I think I am along with everyone else right about now in the story. I understand what is going on for the most part about the witches telling macbeth how he is going to be in charge of the 2 places, and that he will be king someday. I am confused about why he killed the king though. If the witches said that he would be king, why did macbeth have to be the one to kill the king. I was expecting some natural form of death to happen to the king so that macbeth would just get the crown and nobody would get upset at macbeth or his lady for killing the king.
I, like Melanie, understand whats going on for the most part. The only things i'd say i have problems with are the use of language and stage directions. The laguage is like "Romeo and Juliet" so i didn't expect to be able to understand it. The stage directions are confusing because the characters are somethimes thinking the things they're saying to themselves. If this was remade for our generation it would most likey be a very good movie.

I understand what is going on in the play but why does he kill the king. He comes obsessed with what the three sisters said. After he meets the three sisters he turns power hungry and lets that turn him against the king.He lets his wife twist his mind.
For the most part I am understanding the story pretty well. The language that is used makes it confusing at times, but I expect that from Shakespeare. I didn't understand why Macbeth listened to his wife and killed the king, wouldn't he have eventually become king, according to the witches? Why does he let his wife control his life, especially in critical situations like the one with the king? Did he even want to do it, or did he just fear his wife?

So far I pretty much understand Macbeth and I think it is easy to translate. The old English used with Shakespeare doesn’t make sense to me but I am able to get the big picture. Like everyone, especially Delaney I am confused why Macbeth killed King Duncan when there are two more princes in line for the throne before him. But did he do it just because he became Thane of Cawdor and thought becoming King would come shortly after, according to the witches? I guess it's a good thing the two princes fled upon hearing the news of the murder. The three witches creep me out and I am interested to see if their prophesies will come true for Macbeth.
I think that it is a little cunfusing now. It is hard to understand waht they are saying because they are talking the way they did way back when. I think that he just wants as much power as he can get and does not care about anyone but himself.
I am a little confused on what is going on in the play. I understand that he feels guilty for killing the king. But why did he kill the king, and was he next in line to be the king or did the witches just profisize that? Is lady macbeth completely power hungry? Does she even really love Macbeth? Who are these witches and where did they come from? Did macbeth only kill the king because of lady macbeth or the witches profecy?

There has been many stories and such of Shakespear that i have not understood. There is some parts of Macbeth that i understand and some that i am confused about. I think it is crasy how Macbeth actully does everything that Lady Macbeth does. For an example would be to kill King Duncan so that they can have the throne. I like the story but not my type of literature that i would read all the time.

The witches' prophecy is completely dictating what Macbeth is doing. By telling him his future, the witches made Macbeth feel like he had to become the Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland. This made Macbeth kill the King and later betray his own friend, Banquo. Had the witches never told Macbeth his future, I don't think any of this would have even happened.
so far macbeth is kind of eady to understand i also like it so far i am lokking foward to the play that we are going to d o it will fun my favorite part of the play was the last bttle sence it was cool and i really enjoyed it i am looking forward to the next reading that we are going to do
